Communities throughout LA County continuously improve their capacity to significantly contribute to the five outcomes for children and families.
This Committee’s goal is to develop and oversee CPC initiatives devoted to strengthening community capacity, by supporting the eight Service Planning Area (SPA) Councils and the American Indian Children’s Council (AICC). The Committee’s workplan includes creating opportunities for peer learning, providing staff support and technical assistance, and identifying opportunities for joint action. Current projects include:
Developing a Self-Assessment and Peer Learning Process;
sponsoring a Strengthening Community Capacity Symposium on October 10, 2003;
and facilitating the Parent Input Process for the First 5 LA Universal Pre-School Initiative Master Plan.
The SCC Committee meets monthly on the second Thursday. Its membership consists of one convener from each SPA/AIC Council and 4 At-Large CPC members. The Administrative Conveners Sub-Committee also meets monthly to discuss and make recommendations to the SCC on budgetary and staff issues.
